Prof. Dr. Manuel Caeiro Rodríguez
 
 

Manuel Caeiro Rodríguez is Associated Professor in the Department of Telematics Engineering at the University of Vigo. In 2007 he completed his PhD thesis on Educational Modeling Languages with the development of the PoEML proposal. He received the award for the best doctoral thesis from the Spanish Chapter of the Education Society of the IEEE (CESEI). His experience in the field of e-learning goes back to his beginnings as a researcher in 1999, making different contributions: collaborative learning, problem-based learning, game-based learning, simulators, remote laboratories, standards, learning analytics, self-regulated learning, etc. He was the coordinator of the TELGalicia research network from 2012 to 2015, in which 8 research groups from the three Galician universities and the e-learning groups of CESGA and Gradiant, focused on the development of educational innovations based on ICT. He is currently interested in the open movement, especially open educational resources and open data. He is Senior Member of the IEEE since 2010. For the period 2018-2019 he has been elected as president of the Spanish Chapter of the IEEE Education Society (CESEI). At the 2006 FIE Congress he received an award in recognition of his academic work. Manuel actively collaborates with other research groups both in Spain and in other countries. He has carried out research stays in Coimbra and Porto (Portugal), Rennes (France), Budapest (Hungary) and Kumamoto (Japan).
